I've got an M1 OEM kit, but I haven't gotten around to the hack yet. You should check out www.aeinnovations.com/notes for more information about whats involved (this is, of course, a wonderful set of instructions for the hack written by resident guru Don Papp). The M1 OEM doesn't include the optics contained in the M1 package, but you can get the lens from Tekgear for about $10 and the other necessary optics can come from Edmund Optics for around $75. On the upside, the driver board for the OEM kit is much smaller and consumes much less power. And, just so you know, I plan to use the M1 with the tv out from my 5822... Hopefully this project will finally get off the ground in the next few weeks and I can give you more useful information. Until then, keep us updated on what you find!
