Me too, and I want to continuously time/location stamp images
and archive them, eventually also with audio samples, so I
can fast forward and rewind through any of my days :)

As far as I can tell, all of these USB webcams are basically
the same. They all seem to use CMOS or CCD sensors and they
are all cheap digital cameras. There may be small diffrences
in features or image quality between different chipsets, but
they all appear to be pretty much the same. Seems that the
most popular chipsets are the VLSI vision (CPiA) and Omni
Vision (OVL511) chipsets, and there are multiple products
for each of these with different packaging from different
vendors. All you need to do is pick a webcam from the
following list in the packaging that you like:

I am planning to use the D-Link DSB-C300 primarily because
the OVL511 driver was written for this specific camera. I
will naturally rip the webcam apart, throw away the factory
packaging, make my own small custom cables, and flatten the
device to make it wearable and covert (I did this with the
videumcam traveler pcmcia cam and also the parallel port
creative video blaster).

I haven't tried it, but I read about people who have done
this. If you check the above URL and read the "more info"
comments for each webcam, you will see comments from some
people who have done this. Hmmm, and just as it would be
cool to fast-foward and rewind through any of my days, it
would also be cool to fast-forward and rewind through any
you car's days :) It would be even better with multiple
perspectives. And it could prove to be useful when one of
those nasty fender benders happens.
