Here's a quick thought: I thought it would be neat to make a sensor-glove, containing IR, therm, Hall-effect, etc...sensors and a few effectors like IR and high-power white LEDs, flat piezo speaker, etc... You could have a plug at the cuff of the jacket to plug the glove into.
