Sarah, In the May 2000 issue of "Nuts & Volts" magazine, there are a couple of related articles of interest. The first article is "Make your own printer port LED array sign for around $50.00". This uses a different approach of sending the signals directly from the PC to a circuit that turns on the LEDs. The problem with this approach is that it requires a PC to operate, whereas the microcontroller can give you a standalone small and low power set of electronics. Having said that, this is still an article you should read, and perhaps you should consider building the sign they describe, since it would be good building blocks of knowledge. The article uses the "LED arrays" that assassin described. And it gives you a comple parts list and program source code in basic. The are other articles like "Monitor 16 video cameras on your computer and control the position of each" and "Build an Infrared Detector". This is a really great magazine for tinkering with simple circuits and sensors and such. http://www.nutsvolts.com/ Doug -- Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" toWear-Hard Mailing List Archive (searchable): http://wearables.blu.org
